Senior Peoples Democratic Party figure Chief Dan Ulasi has revealed that the late Major General Hassan Usman Katsina confided in him that the Nigerian military as a whole backed the January 1966 coup.
In an interview on Arise TV, Ulasi recounted, “When I spoke with the late Major General Hassan Usman Katsina, he made it clear that they were all in support of the coup. The difference came afterward—after Ahmadu Bello was killed in Kaduna, someone else was targeted in the west, but M.I. Okpara in the east was not.”
