Boko Haram; They’re Using Crypto To Conceal Their Money So That It Cannot Be Easily Traced -Atolagbe

Former Theatre Commander of Operation Safe Haven, General Anthony Atolagbe, has revealed that sponsors of Boko Haram and other terrorist groups are using cryptocurrency to conceal their financial transactions and evade detection by security agencies.

Speaking on Arise TV, Atolagbe said, “They are using crypto to conceal their money so that it cannot be easily traced. But then we also thank the government that certain pronouncements were made by the president recently that some measures on the control of crypto will now be put in place so that we can get to know who owns what, how much money is being put in, and several other things that accompany that,” he said.

Atolagbe also identified the use of advanced communication systems by terrorist networks as another growing threat that security forces must contend with.

He pointed to sophisticated radio systems similar to those used within the United Nations framework and manufactured by companies like Siemens as examples of the kind of technology now being exploited by insurgents.

Such systems, he explained, are capable of tracking patrol movements in real time, indicating when a patrol stops and prompting operators to determine whether troops are resting or whether troops intend to attack……See More
