Bizarre Video Shows Thief Being Spoon-Fed After Getting Nabbed

A man caught attempting to flee with stolen items has been filmed being spoon-fed jollof rice and handed a can of malt by one of the people who apprehended him, in a video that has left many online both amused and confused.

Footage shows the man seated calmly on a blue crate as another man feeds him forkfuls of rice from a plate, while he holds what appears to be a wrapped snack in his other hand, seemingly unbothered by his earlier attempt to escape with stolen goods.

The unusual scene has sparked a wide range of reactions online, with some praising the unexpectedly humane treatment of a suspect, while others questioned why he was being rewarded with a meal rather than handed straight to the police.

The gesture reflects an increasingly documented, if unconventional, community response in some parts of Ghana, where suspects caught in the act are sometimes dealt with informally by residents before, or instead of, formal police involvement, ranging from public shaming and assault in more hostile encounters to, in rarer cases like this one, surprisingly gentle treatment.

The identity of the suspect, the items he allegedly attempted to steal, and the specific location of the incident have not been confirmed.
