BBNaija: Aikou’s team blasts Bells, Ricky over repeated ‘gay’ claims

The management of BBNaija Season 11 housemate Aikou has accused fellow housemates Bells and Ricky of repeatedly telling others that he is gay.

In a statement shared on X, Aikou’s team described the allegation as an unverified personal claim and warned that repeatedly attaching a sexual label to someone without evidence could cause serious harm.

The statement followed a clip in which Bells and Ricky were allegedly heard discussing Aikou.

“Bells, you have repeatedly told other housemates that Aikou is GAY, despite having no evidence or basis for making such a claim,” the team said.

“This has happened more than once, and the fact that it continues to be repeated makes it even more concerning.”

The team said Aikou’s friendships, letters and expressions of affection did not give anyone the right to determine or publicly declare his sexuality.

“Aikou’s friendships, the letters he writes to people he cares about, or the way he expresses affection do not give anyone, not even you, the right to determine or publicly declare his sexuality,” it said.

According to the management, the claims were personal assumptions and should not be presented as established facts.

“These are personal assumptions, not facts, and they should not be presented to others as though they are,” the statement added.

Addressing both housemates, the team said:

“@BellsImoh, @Ricky_jumbo, you both are entitled to your opinions, but you are not entitled to define someone else’s identity for them or repeatedly spread an unverified claim about it.”

It urged the housemates to respect Aikou’s boundaries and allow him to define himself.

“Respect people’s boundaries and allow them to define themselves. Repeatedly making and spreading personal claims about someone can have serious consequences and cause genuine harm,” the team said.

It described the alleged conduct as “defamation of character.”

The 2026 BBNaija season premiered on July 26 with 24 housemates. The winner is expected to receive a record ₦160 million prize, the biggest in the show’s history since its launch in 2006.
