Bauchi Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Assault On 8 Year Old Girl

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly def!ling his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter in Bauchi metropolis.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued by its spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, on Tuesday.

According to Habib, the victim’s 32-year-old mother alleged that the suspect, identified as Muhammad Makama, lured her daughter into his room and def!led her.

The statement indicated that the incident was reported to the “E” Division, Yelwa, Bauchi, on July 5, 2026, at about 10:14 p.m. by the 32-year-old mother of the victim, who resides at Dorawan Dillalai, Bauchi.

The complainant alleged that on the same date, at about 12:11 p.m., Muhammad Makama, 45, of the same address, lured her eight-year-old daughter into his room and def!led her.

The statement said that upon receiving the report, police operatives swung immediately into action, with the victim taken to the Police Clinic for medical examination and treatment.

It added that the suspect was also taken to the same facility for treatment after he was allegedly assaulted by angry members of the community, and was discharged afterwards.

The command said the case had been transferred to the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The State Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged offence and assured the public that justice would be served.
