Bamanga Tukur’s remains flown to Adamawa for burial today

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur, will be buried in Yola, Adamawa State, on Sunday, September 13.

Tukur died in Abuja on Saturday, three days before his 91st birthday.

The burial arrangements were announced by his son, Awwal Tukur, and confirmed in a statement by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

According to the statement, the elder statesman’s remains were scheduled to arrive in Yola on Saturday evening.

Funeral prayers will be held at the palace of the Lamido of Adamawa at 10 a.m. on Sunday, after which Tukur will be laid to rest.

The late politician is survived by two wives and 18 children, including Awwal Tukur, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government.

Bamanga Tukur was a prominent businessman, elder statesman and former governor of the defunct Gongola State. He also served as national chairman of the PDP.
