Atiku Yet To Confirm Amaechi As Running Mate — Amadi

The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has said the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has yet to publicly confirm former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate.

Naija News reports that Amadi stated this in a post on 𝕏, following reports that the ADC had selected Amaechi as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

According to him, Nigerians are waiting to hear Atiku personally announce Amaechi as his running mate.

“@atiku is yet to publicly name @ChibuikeAmaechi as his VP. May be he will do so soonest. We wait to hear him say so soonest,” Amadi wrote.

Meanwhile, the ADC has picked Amaechi as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 poll.

Naija News had earlier reported that the party paired him with Atiku on what its leaders described as a “unity and rescue ticket.”

Announcing the decision in a statement sent to Naija News on Monday, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said Amaechi’s emergence followed broad consultations within the party.

Abdullahi said the decision also reflected Amaechi’s performance as runner-up in the party’s presidential primaries and his record of service to Rivers State and Nigeria.
