Atiku-Amaechi will defeat Tinubu in 2027 election – Bolaji Abdullahi
Bolaji Abdullahi, the national publicity secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed strong confidence that the party’s presidential arrangement featuring Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi, former vice president and ex-governor of Rivers state, will defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Abdullahi made the statement on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he said the ADC believes its leading political figures are better positioned to lead Nigeria than the current administration.
He maintained that the party’s aspirants, including Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, all possess the capacity to deliver improved governance compared to President Tinubu.
According to him, the Atiku-Amaechi combination represents a strong electoral force that would reshape the political landscape in 2027.
The ADC spokesperson said: “We believe that everybody who was running as an aspirant on the platform of the ADC, whether it’s Atiku or Rotimi Amaechi or Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, will do far better than what President Bola Tinubu is doing.”
He added that the emergence of Atiku as the party’s presidential candidate, alongside Amaechi as his running mate, has boosted the ADC’s confidence ahead of the election.
Abdullahi also dismissed concerns about the party’s strength, insisting that the ADC remains fully prepared for the 2027 contest despite recent political and legal developments affecting opposition parties.
He further described a recent Federal High Court judgment ordering the deregistration of the ADC and some other parties as unacceptable, saying the party completely rejects it.
“We reject it in its totality,” he said, arguing that the ADC remains a valid political platform with active participation across the country.
