APC unveils heavyweight Campaign Council for Osun governorship poll
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a 276-member National Campaign Council and 12 specialised sub-committees to spearhead its campaign for the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election, with Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma named chairman of the high-powered council.
The party also announced that the inauguration of the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja, by 12 noon.
According to a notice signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the council will be chaired by Uzodimma, who is also the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
The council has Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas as co-chairmen, while Hon. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, will serve as deputy chairman.
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, was named secretary of the council.
The campaign council comprises governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, presidential aides and other key stakeholders of the party drawn from across the country.
To coordinate campaign activities, the APC also constituted 12 sub-committees covering Election Planning and Management; Finance and Resource Mobilisation; Contact, Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation; Logistics and Campaign Management; Monitoring and Compliance; Protocol; Media and Publicity; Security; Youth Mobilisation; Special Interest (Persons with Disabilities) Mobilisation; Women’s Mobilisation; and Secretariat.
The Election Planning and Management Committee is chaired by Senator Hope Uzodimma, with Hon. Monday Okpebholo as secretary.
The Finance and Resource Mobilisation Committee is headed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as chairman, while Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, serves as secretary.
The Contact, Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation Committee is chaired by Abbah Yusuf, while Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu heads the Logistics and Campaign Management Committee.
The Monitoring and Compliance Committee is chaired by Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, while Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori chairs the Protocol Committee.
The Media and Publicity Committee is headed by Abdullahi Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State, while the Security Committee is chaired by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
The Youth Mobilisation Committee will be led by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, while the Special Interest (Persons with Disabilities) Mobilisation Committee is chaired by Mohammed Umar Bago, Governor of Niger State.
The Women’s Mobilisation Committee has Dr. Malami Sulaiman-Ibrahim and Dr. Mary Alile-Idele as co-chairpersons, with Mrs. Titilayo Laoye-Ponle serving as secretary.
The Secretariat Committee is chaired by Ayoola Peter Olajolo, with Jibrin Barkuma Kagma as secretary.
In a statement issued on Sunday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka said the council comprises eminent party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, legislators and other stakeholders assembled to drive the party’s campaign towards victory in the Osun governorship election.
He added that the specialised sub-committees were constituted to ensure seamless coordination and effective execution of campaign activities ahead of the poll.
