Amuzu, Obasanjo, others flag off PDP campaign, promise people-centred legislation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, Chief Toyin Amuzu, has pledged to sponsor people-centred legislation and facilitate legacy projects that will improve the welfare and well-being of his constituents if elected in the 2027 general election.

Amuzu made the promise during the flag-off of his campaign alongside the party’s Ogun Central Senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, at the Ake Palace Ground, Abeokuta.

He said his ambition was driven by a desire to provide quality representation, responsible legislation and meaningful development that would leave a lasting impact on the people of Abeokuta South.

According to him, the welfare and interests of his constituents would remain at the centre of his legislative agenda, assuring voters that he would work to deliver projects and policies that would stand the test of time.

“Quality representation and responsible legislation” would be his watchwords, Amuzu said, adding that he would not disappoint the people if given the mandate.

The PDP candidate also highlighted some community interventions he had undertaken through his personal initiatives, describing them as evidence of his commitment to improving the lives of residents.

He promised to expand such interventions and facilitate more development projects when elected into the House of Representatives.

Amuzu urged voters to turn out en masse during the election and remain at their polling units to witness the counting of votes, stressing the need for them to protect their votes and ensure they were properly counted.

Speaking at the event, the PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, urged voters in Ogun Central to support Obasanjo, Amuzu and other candidates of the party.

Adebutu described the candidates as tested and trusted, claiming that their records remained unmatched.

He called on voters to reject what he described as non-performance and vote for what he termed “liberation” in the 2027 elections.

Adebutu also urged PDP supporters to come out en masse on January 16, 2027, to vote for the party and defend their votes against intimidation.

In her remarks, the PDP Ogun Central Senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, expressed appreciation for the reception she had received across the senatorial district.

Obasanjo said residents had continued to remind her of projects and interventions carried out during her previous representation, noting that the impact of her tenure remained evident in the testimonies of beneficiaries.

She said some residents had recalled how her interventions helped many people overcome poverty, promising to do more if elected.

Obasanjo pledged to work towards ensuring that residents of Ogun Central enjoy greater dividends of democracy.

The campaign flag-off attracted PDP leaders, supporters and residents who gathered at the Ake Palace Ground to show solidarity with the candidates and the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
