After Giving My Life To Christ, My Dad Would Forcefully Take Me To Mosqute To Perform Ablution -Odesola

At 70, Pastor Adebisi Rachel Odesola, wife of the Continental Overseer 3 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), reflects with gratitude on a life of faith, survival, family, and ministry impact.

Speaking during a celebration in her honour at RCCG Dominion Parish in an interview with The NATION, she recounted her journey from facing religious persecution after becoming a Christian to surviving life-threatening childbirth complications and years of missionary work in Nigeria and Zambia. She said her experiences have consistently strengthened her faith in God as her source of strength.

She also spoke about her marriage, motherhood, and ministry work, as well as the inspiration behind her book Mothers on Assignment.

When she was asked to reflect on the experiences she could not forget over the past 70 years, she said that her life had been filled with many testimonies of God’s faithfulness.

She explained that one of the most memorable experiences was the persecution she went through after giving her life to Christ, describing it as very severe. According to her, her father used to forcefully take her to the mosque to perform ablution and prayers because he wanted her to remain in Islam.

She said that although he could take her there physically, he could not control her heart. She added that while she was in the female section of the mosque, she would silently call on her God, and she believed that God sustained her through that difficult period.

She sated,”One major experience was the persecution I went through after giving my life to Christ. It was very serious. My father would forcefully take me to the mosque to perform ablution and prayers because he wanted me to remain in Islam.

“I thank God that although he took me there physically, he could not control my heart. While in the female section of the mosque, I would silently call upon my God, and God sustained me through that difficult period.”
