Africa Is Filled With Untapped Talent Waiting to Flourish – Awele Elumelu

Chairperson of Transcorp Hotels Plc, Avon Healthcare Limited and Heirs Insurance Brokers, Dr. Awele Elumelu, has urged young Africans to believe in their potential, saying the continent is rich with world-class talent capable of competing globally when given the right support, training and access to capital.

Speaking at an event for young entrepreneurs, Elumelu said the growing international recognition of African creatives demonstrates that the continent’s talents can excel on the global stage.

She pointed to the global success of Nigerian music stars Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade, alongside Ghana’s Shatta Wale, who featured on an album by American music icon Beyoncé, describing the collaboration as a powerful testament to Africa’s immense talent and creativity.

“Our own homegrown African talent sharing the stage with the biggest pop star in the world is an amazing testament to the immense potential of African entrepreneurs, both individually and collectively,” she said.

According to Elumelu, the achievements of African musicians on the global stage show what is possible across other sectors of the economy.

She said young Africans can attain similar global success in agriculture, information and communications technology (ICT), fashion, healthcare and other industries if they receive the right opportunities, mentorship and financial support.

“With the right push, the right resources and the right environment, young entrepreneurs can compete on the world stage,” she added.
