Adeola gives Hunye, Marcus-Bello 24 hours to prove Ekiti origin claim

Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Ogun State has threatened legal action against suspended APC member, Abayomi Hunye, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello, over alleged defamatory statements concerning his origin and family.

Adeola, who is also the senator representing Ogun West, through his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, said the two individuals made what he described as false and libelous claims about him during separate appearances on programmes aired by Channels Television.

According to the statement, Hunye and Marcus-Bello allegedly claimed that Adeola is an indigene of Ekiti State, but failed to provide evidence to substantiate the allegation.

The senator in a statement signed by the media adviser Chief Kayode Odunaro ,has consequently issued a 24-hour ultimatum to both individuals to publicly provide evidence backing their claims or face legal action.

Adeola said he was particularly disturbed by the alleged claims concerning his family background and the circumstances surrounding the burial of his parents.

“I watched in utter disbelief as these characters that I hardly know utter assertive and outrageous lies about my origin without any proof,” Adeola said.

He challenged those making the allegations to produce evidence to support their claims, insisting that he would not continue to tolerate what he described as deliberate falsehoods.

Adeola further alleged that the claim about his being from Ekiti State was previously used as a political strategy to frustrate his emergence as senator representing Ogun West.

He, however, said the alleged campaign failed, as voters in Ogun West elected him during the 2023 National Assembly elections.

According to him, the renewed controversy over his origin is part of attempts to undermine his political ambition ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

The statement urged Hunye and Marcus-Bello to substantiate their claims within 24 hours or prepare to defend themselves in court.
