ACF Rejects Reported Leadership Changes, Says Claims Are Unconstitutional

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has denied reports of leadership changes within the organisation, describing the claims as false and not in line with its constitution. In a statement dated May 3, 2026, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, the forum said it had not authorised any change in leadership and urged the public to disregard such reports.“The attention of the ACF has been drawn to an announcement of a change in the leadership of the organisation.

The news is totally false, and the purported action is unconstitutional,” the statement said. The forum clarified that the power to approve leadership changes rests with its General Assembly, which has not been convened for that purpose.

It added that the Board of Trustees (BoT) is limited to advisory roles and does not have the authority to effect leadership changes. ACF also stated that any committee relating to leadership selection must be constituted by its National Executive Committee (NEC), noting that no such committee is currently in operation.

The group reaffirmed that its Secretary General, Murtala Aliyu, remains in office until due process produces a successor.While acknowledging awareness of alleged attempts to create confusion within the organisation, ACF maintained that there is no leadership crisis.The forum called on members and the public to remain calm and rely only on official communications issued by authorised officers.
