Abia Government Suspends Long-Serving Assembly Clerk, Appoints Replacement

The Abia State Government has suspended the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, John Pedro Irokansi, following allegations of misconduct, marking a significant development within the state’s legislative administration.

The suspension was formally communicated through an official letter dated May 20, 2026, signed by the State Head of Service, Benson Ojeikere. The directive immediately relieved Irokansi of his duties pending the outcome of investigations into the allegations against him.
