63-Year-Old Brothel Owner Arraigned Over Alleged Prostitution Offences

The Delta State Police Command has arraigned a 63-year-old man, Prince Chizoba Ojokwu, proprietor of Prince Tarvan 50 Brothel, before an Asaba Magisterial District court over allegations of operating a brothel and procuring women and girls for prostitution.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, describing it as a follow-up to an intelligence-led raid carried out across identified criminal black spots in Asaba metropolis on Saturday, 4 July 2026.

According to the statement, Ojokwu was among 30 suspects arraigned out of 202 persons arrested during the operation, which was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations.

Police explained that the raid, which targeted black spots, brothels and suspected illicit drug dens across Asaba and surrounding communities, was carried out based on credible information gathered by the State Intelligence Department.

“Following the conclusion of preliminary investigations, one hundred and seventy-two suspects were screened and released unconditionally,” the statement read.

It added that Ojokwu was “arraigned before the Asaba Magisterial District for allegedly permitting his premises to be used as a brothel and procuring women and girls for prostitution, offences punishable under Sections 224 and 223 respectively of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C21, Vol. I, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.”

The command said the remaining 29 suspects were arraigned for conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and for possession of illicit drugs.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring that every lawful arrest is followed by thorough investigation and prosecution wherever a prima facie case is established.

He warned operators of criminal hideouts and other unlawful establishments to steer clear of activities that threaten public peace and security, adding that the command would continue to sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements.
