Shock has gripped the mining town of Wassa Kyeikrom in the Amenfi Central District of the Western Region following a troubling incident involving a 26-year-old miner, according to a report by Crime Check TV Ghana.

The miner, identified as Peter Okyere, allegedly harmed himself after reportedly attacking his landlord during what witnesses described as an emotionally distressing episode linked to financial pressure and personal loss.

Reports suggest Peter had been struggling to cope with life after the death of his father, frequently expressing frustration over economic difficulties. Witnesses also claimed he had recently been asking desperate questions about finding quick ways to make money, fuelling fears that he may have been overwhelmed by stress and emotional strain.

The situation reportedly turned violent when he allegedly confronted his landlord before later causing serious injuries to himself. Residents who arrived at the scene described a deeply distressing moment.

Many locals believe the incident may reflect deeper mental health struggles, possibly intensified by grief, economic hardship, and the pressures of life in mining communities.
