2027: Tinubu will stroll into Villa without pressure — Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, saying the president’s return to the Presidential Villa would come without significant challenge.

Wike made the statement on Wednesday during a media chat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while discussing the opposition coalition and preparations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to the minister, the emerging opposition alliance does not pose a serious threat to Tinubu’s ambition, insisting that the president would have an easy path to victory.

“This will be an election where a president will be walking to the Villa with no pressure,” Wike said.

Wike also spoke on the Rainbow Coalition, saying the group was not formed to advance the interest of any individual politician but to support President Tinubu.

“Rainbow coalition is not about one person. What is important is that we are supporting Mr President. No one party takes everything,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor dismissed the influence of opposition parties, arguing that their existence was largely driven by political interests.

“Opposition parties exist because they need to exist. Ideally, there are no opposition parties,” Wike said.

He also questioned the political strength of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who are now linked with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NDC) respectively.

“Atiku is running under ADC, and Obi under NDC. What was their performance in Osun?” he asked.

Wike said the coalition would unveil its plans at the appropriate time, adding that any decision reached by the group would be properly implemented.
