2026 Ballon d’Or: He was the best player at World Cup – De Paul names footballer to win

Argentina midfielder, Rodrigo De Paul, is backing his national team captain Lionel Messi to win the 2026 World Cup.

De Paul, speaking with TUDN Mexico, claimed Messi was the best player at this year’s World Cup.

“In my opinion, Leo Messi should win the Ballon d’Or,” he said.“For me there is no discussion, what he did at this World Cup at the age of 39 and being the best player of the tournament. “No one will do anything like that ever again.”

Messi has already announced his retirement from international football, after scoring eight goals at the World Cup.

The Inter Miami superstar also provided two assists at the tournament.
