10 including children k!lled, 11 injured as bandits attack mourners during burial ceremony in Kaduna community

Suspected bandits have killed nine people and injured others during an attack on a burial gathering in Angwan Magaji village, Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

 

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the attack was carried out by suspected “armed Fulani bandits”

 

He said the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 17, 2026 when the assailants reportedly stormed the community and opened fire on mourners attending a burial ceremony.

 

Troops deployed under Operation Enduring Peace were said to have responded to a distress call and rushed to the scene.

 

Upon arrival, the troops discovered that two residents had been k!lled, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack.

 

The wounded victims were evacuated to the Primary Health Care Centre in Barkin Kogi for medical treatment.

 

Military authorities said efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the attackers.

Irigwe Youth Movement, Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, who confirmed the incident in a statement said nine persons were k!lled in the attack while eleven others sustained injuries. 

 

He identified the victims as Jerry Doctor (51), Danlami Magani (49), Sunday Chibi (53), Rita Abdullahi (45), Sunday Elkan (5), Esther Kefas (5), Happy Friday (6), Moses Daddy (4), and Daddy Ibrahim (28).

 

Those injured include: Halla Monday (7), Mary Yohanna (9), Jummai John (42), Charity Danjuma (49), Faith Yakubu (26), Omi Yakubu (48), Ali Sandiye (70), Asabe Victor (29), Srarina Simon (4), Talatu Sunday (60), and ThankGod Danladi (8).

 

“The Irigwe Youth Movement strongly condemns this latest attack and calls on security agencies to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators. May God comfort the Irigwe people as they seek justice,” the statement read.
