₦66 Million WAEC Reistration Sponsorship: Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Constituents Justify Preference for APGA Candidate, Ogalagu for 2027.
The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu federal constituency of Ebonyi state in the forthcoming 2027 Elections, Chief Tochukwu Ogalagu has flagged-off his WAEC – Senior Secondary Certificate Examination registration sponsorship for 1, 900 students of the constituency.
The renowned philanthropist popularly known as T-Man is the Chairman of Zelus Group of Companies and Chief Executive Officer of Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation, a Nongovernmental organization, through which he has positively touched countless lives beyond the co constituency.
The 2026 WAEC sponsorship at the cost of ₦66.5 million is one of Ogalagu’s numerous sponsored interventions through his NGO to uplift the lives of the constituent.
The flagged-off event held Saturday at the Practising School field, Ezzamgbo in Ohaukwu LGA attracted education stakeholders, community leaders, school administrators, students, parents and supporters beyond the federal constituency.
Beneficiaries and other stakeholders at the event avowed their preference for Ogalagu over other contestants for the constituency seat, including the incumbent, Eze Nwachukwu Eze, stressing that Ogalagu has surpassed expectations without yet any political position.
Beneficiaries Chinemerem Edeh and Gift Nworie who spoke for others described the gesture as both “a renewed hope” and “a life-changing opportunity”. ” I am oerwhelmed with joy because the intervention has given me the opportunity to pursue my educational ambitions in spite of my background and family’s economic status”, Edeh said.
A prominent constituent, politician and former Commissioner for Education in Ebonyi State, Barr. Ndubuisi Chibueze Agbo, described the initiative as unprecedented, adding that the amount covered both the registrations and logistics for participating schools.
Agbo enumerated some of the APGA candidate’s philanthropic record, including scholarship schemes, facilitation of employment opportunities for youths across the state and free medical schemes for the elderly and indigent members of the constituency. He emphasised that Ogalagu has, with the gesture and others of its kind, proven to be the choicest candidate for the federal constituency seat.
“Initially I doubted the feasibility of registering such a large number of candidates but I am impressed to be a witness of this fulfilled promise from T-Man.
.
“A man who has never occupied any political office but has impacted lives in this manner deserves commendation and unfettered support. What he has done is exceptional and worthy of emulation”, Agbo emphasized.
Mrs Gloria Mgbike, the Controller WAEC, Ebonyi State branch, in her remarks commended Ogalagu for the intervention, describing it as a significant contribution to educational development in the state. Expressing appreciation to the Zelunjo Foundation for the gesture, she prayed for greater success in Ogalagu’s future endeavours, including his ambition to represent his people.
“This sponsorship would enable hundreds of students who might otherwise have been unable to sit for the examination to realise their academic aspirations”, Mgbike noted.
In his address, Ogalagu said the initiative was part of his commitment towards promoting education and alleviating financial burdens on indigent families. He maintained that investment in education remains one of the most effective tools for societal transformation and sustainable development, stressing that the beneficiaries represented the future of the constituency in particular and the nation in general.
He assured all stakeholder, parents, guardians and supporters that he would continue to sustain his educational intervention programmes through the Foundation. “We will continue to support humanity and assist families who cannot afford the cost of education for their children. These students are the leaders of tomorrow and deserve every opportunity to succeed”, he said.
Meanwhile, other education stakeholders who spoke at the event including Mrs Grace Ezeali, pioneer Registrar of Federal Polytechnic Ohodo, Enugu State; Principal of St Michael’s Secondary School, Ezzamgbo, Mr Jacob Agbo Onwe; Principal of Anglican Transfiguration College, Umuogudu Oshia, Dr Obinna Awoke and the Dean of Stella Maris College, Oguzoronweya Nkaliki, Mr Israel Mbam also lauded the initiative, describing it as one of the largest privately funded educational interventions in Ebonyi State.
They commended Ogalagu’s sustained investment in education, youth empowerment and job creation, urging beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture through academic excellence and responsible conduct.
The event coloured by cultural dances and solidarity procession from supporters of the philanthropist reflected the level of strong and widespread support enjoyed by Ogalagu across the constituency which is hinged on the politicians long standing charater of humility, empathy and love for the people.
